The FIFA football games are no more. This autumn, after 30 years of "FIFA XX", the title of the world's favourite sports simulation game is changing to "EA Sports FC". And EA Sports has today revealed the front cover of the "Ultimate Edition" of its best-selling gaming, with none other than Newcastle's own Alexander Isak featuring on it.
Isak is shown alongside legendary names such as Pele, Johan Cruyff, David Beckham, Ronaldinho, and Zinedine Zidane, as well as current superstars Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Junior. Other notable Premier League stars to feature include Son Heung-min of Spurs, Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool, Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, and Marcus Rashford of Manchester United, so he's in very good company.
This is the first time Newcastle will have a player on the cover of the world's best-selling sports game since David Ginola graced the front of the FIFA 97 box in the famous "granddad collar" strip, minus the Newcastle Brown Ale logo for obvious reasons.
EA Sports FC is set to be released at the end of September, and after his performances in 2022/23, Isak will stand a good chance of being Newcastle's highest-rated player. He'll face stiff competition from Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali, plus any further new signings Eddie Howe makes this summer, though.
The Swedish forward is Newcastle United's club record signing, having joined for around £63 from Real Sociedad in August 2022. He was nominated for the Premier League's "Young Player of the Year" award at the end of his debut season and is set for a massive campaign in 2023/24 after his first full pre-season under Howe.
