On Wednesday night Newcastle United face their biggest game of the season so far when they take on AC Milan in the Champions League.

It's the final group games of the Champions League this week and Newcastle still have every possible scenario open to them. A defeat will see them crash out of Europe completely, or a draw, and even a win could see them head into the Europa League, or they could still qualify for the Knockout stages.

It is quite literally all to play for tomorrow, but Newcastle are going into the game with dented confidence having suffered consecutive defeats to Everton and Tottenham respectively.

Eddie Howe still has a threadbare squad to choose from, but players are starting to come back from injury now and we've backed one of the returnees to start.

Goalkeeper

Martin Dubravka - Rumours are that M-Dubz is nursing a shoulder injury but we still expect him to start over Loris Karius.

Defence

Tino Livramento - Tino didn't have a good game on Sunday, but nobody did, so hopefully he can bounce back against Milan.

Fabian Schar - Defensively okay on Sunday, but his passing, which is a huge part of his game, has suffered lately.

Jamaal Lascelles - Needs to put the nightmare of Sunday behind him but it won't be an easy task.

Kieran Trippier - Absolutely should be dropped as he's been awful lately, but given that he has to sit out Saturday's game anyway, he will start against Milan.

Midfield

Joelinton - Bagged a goal on Sunday and was the best of a bad bunch, we have no issues with J7.

Bruno Guimaraes - Another one who was shocking on Sunday, playing like he was wearing brogues instead of football boots. Has to pick up his game on Wednesday.

Sean Longstaff - The only change we think Eddie Howe will make, bringing in the experience over continuing with Lewis Miley despite Miley being solid since Longstaff picked up his knock.

Forwards

Anthony Gordon - Even AG10 was pants on Sunday, that's how bad we were, but he'd still be one of the first names on the teamsheet for us.

Alexander Isak - Hasn't looked right since he returned, but he will probably get an hour before Callum Wilson takes over.

Miguel Almiron - Keeps missing sitters but he's getting into the right positions to do so, so surely one will go in eventually.

Gordon and Longstaff didn't train with the team on Tuesday which is a bit of a worry, but we're hoping it's just precautionary more than anything else otherwise we might be seeing Matt Ritchie on the left wing with Miley back in the centre afterall.
