There was a story recently that suggested that Joelinton may never play for Newcastle United again after his surgery will keep him out for the rest of this season.

Joelinton and the club are currently at a stalemate with regards to the big Brazilian signing a new deal at Newcastle.

The bruising midfielder is still on his original contract from when he signed for £40million from Hoffenheim, and after going from laughing stock to one of the most important players in the squad, he is rightly demanding better terms.

Joelinton's contract demands are a bit mental

However, he appears to be asking too much with reports suggesting he's asking for Bruno Guimaraes money which is madness. And we say that as people who will riot if Joelinton is sold in the summer.

That's something that could happen if the contract situation isn't resolved as the club would be loathed to lose him on a free next year.

Now Eddie Howe has poured a gallon of petrol on the fire after agreeing that it's a very real possibility as Keith Downie posted on X this morning.

“I’m not a fortune teller but it’s a possibility. I hope that’s not the case. I want him to stay — I love him as a person & player.

"But before a player signs a contract he has to be happy with everything…and we are not there yet.

“He has 18 months left on his contract so it’s a possibility he’ll be sold in the summer.”

Please don't go Joe

We're firm believers in the saying "nobody is bigger than the club" but this is Joelinton and we love Joelinton so we really hope something gives before it's too late.

It's already agony knowing we have to face the rest of this sh** season without his battling presence, let's not make it worse. Hopefully, this time recovering will give him time to think on and make more reasonable demands.
