Mehrdad Ghodoussi put out a controversial post on X after the Chelsea win at the weekend that had many fans talking.
Newcastle United hammered Chelsea 4-1 at St James' Park on Saturday but after the game, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and Jamie Reuben made statements implying that the fans should be making more noise in the stadium.
Ghodoussi's post, which has now been deleted, said "we need to be louder" which caused a lot of debate amongst the fans.
There were some who thought he had a point while others pointed the finger of blame towards the owners for killing the atmosphere with the poor ticketing system and over-reliance on corporate hospitality.
Others made the point that certain sections of the stadium don't carry the crowd noise as well and therefore parts of the stadium might sound quiet.
We made the point that there are so many factors that go into how the atmosphere is on the day and while we have had some amazing atmospheres, especially since the takeover, it can't be expected to be the norm, as much as we'd like it to be.
Ahead of tonight's clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital, Mehrdad Ghodoussi has issued an apology of sorts via his X account.
"Often, our intentions and words don't align perfectly. I believe most of you know how deeply I'm committed to this club; my heart beats in black and white, and my love for the club and all of you is unwavering. Let's keep our fingers crossed for tonight, we stand united. Here's to us and our journey together. Howay the Lads"
We don't think anyone really thought they had any ill will towards the fans, it was likely a comment that sounded innocent enough in his head but the problem with the written word is that it is almost impossible to convey tone - the reader will always add their own and that's where things can be taken out of context.
At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but as long as the Toon Army keeps turning up, keeps singing and shouting the lads on, nobody is going to have a problem.
