When did Newcastle last win a trophy? How many trophies have Newcastle won?

When did Newcastle last win a trophy? How many trophies have Newcastle won?

One day they'll stop singing the uncensored version of "you've never won flip all" at us. One glorious day.

It's hard to deny that we're on a bit of a barren run, though, with no new silverware added to the trophy cabinet for over 50 years now.

But when exactly did Newcastle last win a cup? And how many honours does the club have in its history?

When did Newcastle last win a trophy?

The great Bobby Moncur captained Newcastle United to victory in the 1968/69 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup Final on Wednesday, 11th June 1969. This was Newcastle's last major trophy.

A 6-2 aggregate win over Újpesti Dózsa was sealed with a 2-3 win in Budapest, with goals from Moncur himself, Preben Arentoft, and Alan Foggon. Jim Harvey's side had won the first leg 3-0 on Thursday, 29th May in front of 60,000 at St. James', with a Moncur brace and a Jim Scott goal that magical night.

Newcastle last won the First Division (the precursor to the Premier League) in the 1926/27 season, 96 years ago, thanks largely to the goalscoring and leadership ability of Hughie Gallacher.

The club last won the FA Cup in 1955, beating Manchester City 3-1 in the final at Wembley with goals from the legendary Jackie Milburn, Bobby Mitchell, and George Hannah.

Sadly, we have never won the League Cup (twice runners-up) or any iteration of the European Cup (Champions League) or Cup Winners Cup (Europa Conference League). We haven't ever played in the latter, though.

The First Division ("old First Division") became the Premier League ahead of the 1992/93 campaign.

Newcastle United have never won the Premier League, though we were runners-up in 1995/96 and 1996/97.

How many times have Newcastle been to Wembley?

Newcastle United have officially played at Wembley Stadium 14 times, as of June 2023. However, we're loathe to count the 1988 Football League Centenary Tournament and the two away games we played against Tottenham Hotspur in 2017/18 and 2018/2019.

Here are the 11 fixtures we consider as the club's "proper" visits to England's national stadium:
