Callum Wilson scored his first Premier League goal since October in Newcastle United's 5-1 win over Sheffield United at St James' Park on Saturday.

The England striker has been out of action since February after he injured a pectoral muscle late on in the game against Nottingham Forest.

Wilson made his return from the bench in midweek against Crystal Palace and looked sharp, but was unable to do anything to prevent the defeat, however, when introduced on 66 minutes against Sheffield United, Wilson wasted no time in doing what he does best.

Just six minutes after he and Harvey Barnes came on, the pair linked up to fire in Newcastle's fifth of the game after Barnes fended off three defenders before dinking a lovely ball into the path of Wilson who took a touch to bring the ball down before unleashing a fierce half volley into the top corner.

Wilson is now our second-top Premier League goal-scorer

That strike moves Wilson up to second spot in Newcastle's all-time top Premier League goal scorers level with Peter Beardsley. If only he wasn't made of string cheese and chicken bones, could you imagine how many goals he'd have for us? His strike rate is absolutely phenomenal.

Wilson joked with Match of the Day that he'd have to stay at Newcastle another 10 years to catch up to Newcastle's top scorer, Alan Shearer.

The 32-year-old celebrated his goal with a post on X and Instagram saying how he's missed scoring at the Gallowgate.

"Goal at the Gallowgate End.. I’ve missed that feeling"

Isaac Hayden showed Wilson some social media love

His post on Instagram garnered a lot of "heart eyes" emojis from his fellow teammates, but it was Isaac Hayden, currently on loan at QPR who showed his love with words.

"Never in doubt, back and straight goals"

Weak grasp of the basics of the English language aside, it was a nice touch from the midfielder who has had his own struggled with injuries of late.
