Fans of Newcastle United don't need to be reminded of how good Alexander Isak is but it's still nice to hear it from people with no connection to the club.

We are well aware of what a talent we have on our hands. At 24 years old, Isak already looks to be the full package in terms of what a striker should be, with added abilities on top of it that make him stand out from the rest of the pack.

It's hardly surprising that he often gets compared to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry as he has a similar swagger about the way he plays. That doesn't mean he also has to play for Arsenal though.

Yes, Arsenal are on the lookout for a new striker and yes they've been credited with an interest in Isak, but I think it has been made abundantly clear that he's not going there.

Pundits outside of Newcastle just can't help themselves

That doesn't seem to stop pundits from trying to will the move into existence by constantly talking about him going there. No matter who the pundit is, as soon as they start, rightfully, praising Isak, they almost inevitably start cooing about him potentially playing for other clubs.

The latest culprit is Robbie Mustoe who was speaking on NBC about who he feels is the best Premier League striker behind Erling Haaland, and he was doing so well until he blew it at the end.

“Outside of Erling Haaland, and I’m sorry Ollie Watkins, I think he’s the best number nine [in the Premier League].

“And I think he’s got the potential with the way that he plays – he’s a centre forward that I particularly like. He’s different to Toney, different to Watkins. He’s got a little swagger about his play, and I know that Arsenal may be looking for a centre forward, and Newcastle have said he’s not going anywhere, but if there is a centre forward if anyone asked me who Arsenal should go buy, it’s Alexander Isak.

“He’s got the class, the quality, the skill, the talent, the goalscoring, the age, the future to be a brilliant striker at Arsenal.

“I’m not saying he’s going to go, but I’m forever impressed by a guy… I like a striker who can do something like ‘wow’, and he’s got that.”

Newcastle are still seen by some people as a stepping-stone club

We didn't buy him to sell him on. Mike Ashley is gone, we're not a selling club anymore, we're trying to build something here and Alexander Isak is a major part of it, so stop trying to undermine the project with little snide remarks about how our best players are too good for little old Newcastle.

I mean, is it me? Am I just getting wound up about nothing here or is this constant belittling of our beloved club just getting a bit out of hand?

I can't wait to see Alexander Isak stay here next season, blasting in goals for fun and guiding Newcastle to a higher finish than Arsenal.
