Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton were made fully aware of the Toon Army's love yesterday as the Gallowgate End of St James' Park was adorned in a giant Brazil flag showing the Samba Boys just what they mean to Newcastle United.

After the game Bruno admitted that he and Joelinton were practically moved to tears before the game and the Brazil international repaid the Magpies with a goal on 54 minutes, celebrating by lifting the corner flag above his head as a return gesture to the excellent Wor Flags display.

The love between Bruno and the fans runs both ways and it will be a huge factor in keeping the popular Brazilian at the club amid constant speculation that he will be sold.

There's always been an air of confidence that he would stick around based on things he's said in interviews and more recently, the fact that he's just bought a new house in the area, but if we needed more confirmation, Bruno delivered it on social media last night.

Bruno is a Geordie!

As usual, after a win, Bruno posted a selection of images on his X and Instagram accounts and this time his caption was dedicated to the fans and the love they've shown him.

"An indescribable feeling I was able to experience this afternoon. Gratitude, love, respect, and partnership. My greatest victory is being a Geordie on the field. Representing you, the fans, on the field is what keeps me focused and always striving for my best.

"Happy for the affection you've always shown me and for being able to represent my country in Newcastle. Onwards to more."

We are hoping to see Bruno and Joe back together next week

Bruno referring to himself, and indeed his kids, as a Geordie is about as strong a statement as he can make that he has no desire to leave this club in the near future.

Joelinton having signed a new contract after that looked touch-and-go for a while will be another big part of why he'll stay. We have to admit that if Joelinton was heading for the exit we'd have been a lot more insecure about Bruno's position, but now we just can't wait to see the duo back on the pitch together, hopefully next Saturday.

Newcastle take on another relegation-threatened side next week as they travel to Turf Moor to take on Burnley who picked up a valuable point against Manchester United yesterday, doing both of us a favour.
