Newcastle fans come up with excellent new chant as 34-year-old comes off the bench in 5-1 win

Newcastle United condemned Sheffield United to relegation at St James' Park with a 5-1 win.

It could be said that the scoreline somewhat flatters Newcastle, or at least is harsh on Sheffield United who never stopped fighting, even when they were 5-1 down with time running out.

In fact, the Blades almost had a penalty in the dying embers of the game before the referee was sent to the screen by VAR, ultimately overturning his decision.

But with Newcastle four goals to the good and time running out, Eddie Howe made a couple of changes, bringing on young Alex Murphy and not-so-young Matt Ritchie.

It didn't take the Newcastle crowd long to acknowledge Ritchie's achievement

It wasn't long after Matt Ritchie's introduction to the game that the 34-year-old was serenaded by the Toon Army.

A few days ago it was revealed that Ritchie had just passed his LGV test which surprised, well, everyone. Apparently, it's because his family has horses and they want a truck to transport them around, so someone needed the licence to do so.

In light of that news, the Newcastle fans didn't take long to replace his 'magic hat' chant for an all-new one.

The hilarious chant was the cherry on top of a good day

The new chant of "He drives what he wants" echoed around St James' Park and I'm not going to lie, I laughed way more than I probably should have.

It's just as well Newcastle were comfortably winning at the time otherwise the atmosphere may have been too tense for that new chant to make its debut.

Quality work from the Toon Army. It, along with the victory, made my day.
