It would appear that Newcastle United may still have work to do to convince players outside of England that they're a club on the up.

Newcastle have recently been credited with an interest in Juventus defender Gleison Bremer who has a reported €70million (£59.8million) release clause in his current deal.

That clause doesn't become active until 2025, but there exists an agreement that if a club were to come in this summer with that fee, then Juventus wouldn't stand in his way if he wanted a move.

Calcio Mercato in Italy have today claimed that Newcastle are among several clubs in Europe keen on the 27-year-old Brazilian and are lagging a way behind in the race for his signature.

Gleison Bremer is an absolute unit

Bremer is unmoved by the thought of a switch to Newcastle

Gleison Bremer seems to be less convinced by a move to Newcastle than other potential suitors which include Atletico Madrid and Manchester United.

Perhaps he could put in a phone call to fellow countrymen Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes to ask them about the club and see if that persuades him.

The report does say that Newcastle are 'ready for the summer push' which we guess means they're going to try their luck anyway.

Newcastle would need to sell him on the project

Bremer only joined Juventus in 2022 for £35million from Torino so the Bianconeri are set to double their money if a deal does happen this summer.

He looks like an absolute powerhouse of a defender, someone who would be nice to have in there as that brick wall type who nobody can get past, and if they do we've got Fabian Schar or Sven Botman to sweep up.

It might take some convincing by Newcastle to get him to join, but if he sits down and hears about the project, we're sure he could be persuaded.
