For Newcastle United, a win on Saturday is a priority. The race for spots in the Europa League and Europa Conference League are still up for grabs.

However, the fate of another team could be decided on Saturday.

The Magpies opponents, Sheffield United must win at St James' Park to have any chance of Premier League survival.

The Blades are 10 points off safety with four games to go. They would have to win all of their remaining games and hope 17th placed Nottingham Forest fail to win or draw any of their remaining four to stay up.

Newcastle have sent clubs down before

This is not an uncommon occurrence for the Magpies, Premier League clubs have been send down to the Championship at the hands of Newcastle in the past.

Most recently, Newcastle sent Burnley packing on the final day of the 2021/22 season.

They also dropped the guillotine on Cardiff City towards the end of their disastrous 2013/14 season.

The thought of that will surely be on the backburner however, as Wednesday's defeat coupled with Manchester United's win means that chances of European football became a bit smaller.

Do Sheffield United have any players Newcastle could poach?

Looking at their squad, there is a lack of real Premier League quality.

Picking out the best of a bad bunch, Newcastle could take a chance on Anel Ahmedhodzic. The Magpies will be in the market for another central defender this summer, he could be a useful backup.

Gustavo Hamer is another option, but he may be pricing having only just joined from Coventry in the summer.

My rogue pick is Daniel Jebbison, the 20-year-old is out of contract this summer. I believe Toon boss Eddie Howe could get a good player out of him.
