PL player with 'world-class' potential will cost £65m this summer - Newcastle should swoop - opinion

There are many positions that Newcastle United need to find bodies for this summer but a right winger is a high priority for Eddie Howe.

Nothing is ever certain in football, but it would be a safe bet to say that Miguel Almiron is probably on his way out of Newcastle United this summer which will leave a pretty big hole at right-wing, an area that already needs improving.

Anthony Gordon proved against Tottenham Hotspur that he is more than capable of playing that position, bagging a goal and two assists for his efforts, and with Alexander Isak in the middle and Harvey Barnes on the left, Newcastle have a lethal strike force.

However, should any of those players pick up an injury, things become problematic. Playing all three every game is a risk in itself, so Eddie Howe will want, nay, need cover for those positions this summer.

Shy bairns get nowt!

The answer could be found in our next opponents Crystal Palace in the form of 22-year-old France U21 star Michael Olise whose £65million release clause comes into effect this summer.

There will of course be plenty of competition for Olise's signature with Arsenal, Manchester United and Man City all keen on the lad that Michah Richards once claimed is 'going to be world-class' on The Rest Is Football Podcast.

Newcastle would be foolish to not at least throw their hat in the ring on this one. Yes, it might take some amazing verbal diarrhoea to convince him to choose us over Manchester City or Arsenal, but if we don't try we won't ever know.

If Newcastle don't try then what are we even doing?

Financial Fair Play being what it is could make it a tricky one for Newcastle, but we know that £65m would get the deal done, so there'd be few nasty surprises.

Also, at 22, he's still got years and years ahead of him and in time he will more than pay that money back in what he could bring to the club.

And if nothing else, he's apparently better than Anthony Gordon according to Premier League Productions, so it's a no-brainer all around, really.
