'Privileged and proud': Amanda Staveley reaches out to fans to quell fears after 'resignation' panic

Earlier in the week there was mass panic on social media when it appeared that Jamie Reuben and Amanda Staveley had resigned from the board of Newcastle United.

A screenshot from Companies House did the rounds showing the change in the board with Jamie Reuben and Amanda Staveley resigning and CEO Darren Eales taking over.

As it turned out, there was nothing to worry about as the 'resignation' was one of many connected to a bunch of subsidiary companies that were inherited along with the football club and the changes were part of a 'housekeeping' exercise.

After a stay out in Saudi Arabia, Amanda Staveley has returned home to see the panic for herself and has taken to Instagram to assure fans that nothing has changed.

Staveley has confirmed she remains on the Newcastle United board

Posting an image of one of the Companies House screenshots, Staveley captioned it with a heartfelt thank you to fans.

"Just arrived back from Saudi and noticed a lot of messages from fans concerned that I had stepped down from my role as a Director of Newcastle United. I have not - the changes made last week were purely administrative, to non trading subsidiaries. After the takeover, Jamie and I stepped in as directors of all companies until we could build an executive team. We remain on the ‘top-co’ and the Board. I’d like to thank everyone for their incredible support over the last few years, and particularly for people taking the time to share their thoughts. We have the best fans in the world- and I am privileged and proud to be a part of your community."

With all of the legal battles facing Staveley with one creditor chasing bankruptcy proceedings, it was only natural that fans were worried, but it looks like Staveley has it all under control for now.

For everything Amanda Staveley has done for this club, never giving up in her pursuit to release it from the icy grasp of Mike Ashley, following through on promises and generally being the face of the takeover, we'd be absolutely gutted if she had to leave so soon.

Thankfully that's a fear we don't have to face just yet.
