Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe still has a selection headache going into Saturday's game against Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Magpies' injury woes have been a constant fixture all season and with just four games remaining it's set to continue right until the last day.

Kieran Trippier is a definite non-starter this weekend with the vice-skipper currently in Dubai working on his rehabilitation, but there was a hope that Joelinton could return this weekend.

That now seems unlikely according to The Athletic who gave a brief injury update as part of their weekly Q&A.

Miggy could be in the squad on Saturday

If anyone is likely to make a return to the squad this weekend it will be Miguel Almiron, states Chris Waugh.

"Miguel Almiron has the best chance of returning as he is set to step up his recovery from injury. Kieran Trippier is not expected to be fit, having gone to Dubai for some fitness work, while Joelinton and Nick Pope are likely to require a bit longer before they can return, too."

Jacob Murphy filled the right-wing role at the weekend, picking up an assist for his efforts, but Eddie Howe also has the option of playing Anthony Gordon there and starting Harvey Barnes on the left.

Newcastle will have to continue with Martin Dubravka in goal for now

It was believed that Kieran Trippier could play a part in the final three games of the season and it now looks like that will be the case for Joelinton too.

Nick Pope was expected back this month, however, they could have meant back in training, which has happened, so it still remains to be seen whether we see the 32-year-old stopper between the sticks again this season.

We are so close now to putting this horrendous season behind us, but if we can do so with European qualification having been achieved, then we must give Eddie Howe the credit he deserves for guiding is through this campaign and still giving us something to shout about.
