Recently Premier League Productions released a video debating the hottest young attacking midfielders in the Premier League which was missing a certain Anthony Gordon.

At the time we were livid but wondered if they'd maybe been saving Anthony Gordon for another categeory, maybe young forwards, but the next video in the series has landed and it was young strikers. There was no sign of Anthony Gordon, but Alexander Isak was featured.

However, how they could overlook Gordon based on what he's done this season is as baffling as it is infuriating.

Now, following on from The Overlap's interview between Gary Neville and Anthony Gordon, they have followed up with a breakdown of why Anthony Gordon must go to the Euros.

Anthony Gordon has proven to be reliable in big games

The video highlights just how good Gordon has been this season and how often he tops charts for various metrics in the Premier League and that he's always there or thereabouts for most others, placing him in, around, and above his rivals for the England squad place.

It starts off by saying he's been one of the most underrated players in the league this season which, given the complete lack of recognition from PLP, really rings true.

The Overlap points out that 11 of Gordon's 19 goal involvements at Newcastle have come against the 'big six', showing how he's the player for the big occasion.

Gordon leads the way for progressive carries at Newcastle ahead of Miguel Almiron's 77 with Gordon racking up a phenomenal 114 and in the Premier League as a whole, he's third in the table for chances created following a take-on behind Phil Foden and Jeremy Doku, both of Manchester City. Interestingly he's level with Bruno Guimaraes on that one too, which is an amazing stat.

There is no way Southgate can overlook Gordon for his Euro squad

No player in the Premier League has had more attacking 1v1s that have led to a goal within 10 seconds than Gordon, tied with Bukayo Saka and Mo Salah.

Gordon is mixing it with some top company, and yet still isn't getting the recognition he deserves. This isn't just recent form, he has been at this level consistently all season and yet it took until March for Gareth Southgate to call him up to the England squad.

Hopefully, having given a good account of himself when given his shot, combined with the many, many stats mentioned in The Overlap's video, Southgate will realise that he absolutely has to take Gordon to Germany.

Additionally, we hope that the researchers for Premier League Productions are feeling extremely stupid right now.
