Newcastle United youth prospect Trevan Sanusi turns 17 today. Happy birthday Trev!

You know what that means? He can officially sign a professional contract and I am convinced that Newcastle boss Eddie Howe will want him to put pen to paper sooner rather than later.

Sanusi rejected Liverpool to sign for the Magpies from Birmingham in September 2023 and has hit the ground running.

The prospect has been likened to former Newcastle winger Allan Saint-Maximin for his technical ability and confidence on the ball. We can see those comparisons.

Sanusi is the real deal at Newcastle

Coached by the likes of Graeme Carrick and Ben Dawson, Sanusi has thrived in Newcastle's youth setup.

This season, Sanusi has made 22 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions including four games in the UEFA Youth League, bagging one assist.

However, it was Newcastle Under-18s FA Youth Cup game against Bournemouth where he truly shone.

Sanusi had the confidence of a seasoned pro in that game, completing numerous take-ons, drawing fouls and making things happen.

Although Newcastle lost the game, Sanusi garnered praise from those in attendance and watching on YouTube.

Sanusi should be eyeing first-team football

He may not be ready for the Premier League yet, but at 17 he is well on his way to becoming a player that can make a name for himself.

He could join the likes of Sean Longstaff and Lewis who have made it into Newcastle's first-team and been successful.

The potential is there, let's hope he signs a long term deal for the Magpies and realises his potential.
