Brazil were in action last night in the Santiago Bernabeu, the home of Real Madrid who have been constantly linked with Newcastle United's Bruno Guimaraes.

If this was Bruno's audition to become a Real Madrid star then we probably don't have much to worry about. The 26-year-old was hooked at half time in the international friendly with Spain after a torrid first half.

We've seen Bruno have the odd off-day for Newcastle, but they've mostly been as rare as a Sven Botman goal, and often, when he plays bad so does the rest of the team and then by law of averages he still looks like the best player on the pitch.

It's a different story when you're playing for Brazil, however, and as a result, Bruno was slapped with an embarrassing rating by Brazilian website Globo Esporte.

The two besties will be at war again on Saturday

Brazilians weren't overly impressed with our Bruno last night

The game ended 3-3 with Bruno's mate Lucas Paqueta levelling the game from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time.

Bruno's performance was given a score of 4.5 by Globo Esporte but their readers were even more harsh giving him a 3.9 for his efforts.

"Below what he can produce. In the 34th minute, he missed a pass in front of the area that almost gave rise to a goal from Spain. Shortly after, he fell out with Laporte and took a yellow card. He did very little with the ball at his feet and ended up withdrawn in the interval."

Shake it off, Bruno

Bruno will be facing off against Paqueta on Saturday as Newcastle clash with West Ham at St James' Park.

Hopefully, Guimaraes will have shaken off last night's poor showing in time to put in a much better showing on Saturday as Newcastle try and close that gap to the European places and salvage something from this season.

Saturday's game is a lunch time kick-off at 12:30pm and will be shown live on TNT Sport.
