Newcastle United's injury-ravaged season collects another casualty as young star is injured on international duty.

There doesn't seem to be any end to Newcastle's horrific luck this season when it comes to injuries as Lewis Miley becomes the latest casualty of war after picking up an injury while away with England U20s.

While currently unconfirmed, it's believed that 17-year-old Lewis Miley has picked up an injury while training with the England U20s which, given Miley's absence from today's match squad as England beat Czech Republic 3-1, certainly stands to reason.

If it turns out to be true it will be another huge blow for Eddie Howe who has had to juggle his squad all season due to a seemingly endless string of injuries.

Lewis Miley could be out for six weeks

X user Magpie Media has claimed that Miley will be absent for a number of weeks, although again, we must stress that, at the time of writing, this hasn't been confirmed.

Joel Bland has posted about potential injury news but as yet hasn't named the player, however speculation on social media is rife that it's Miley and that he could be out for six weeks.

This means, then, that Eddie Howe will have to persist with Sean Longstaff in the middle of the park for the foreseeable future.

Six more weeks of Longstaff

Longstaff's form recently hasn't so much been bad as it has been completely irrelevant. Large portions of each game recently has gone by when you could literally forget that he is even on the pitch, until he balloons an effort over the bar.

Miley has had to make do with a place on the bench recently since Joe Willock returned to fitness, but we'd definitely rather have seen him in the starting lineup over Longstaff recently.

The good news is, Elliot Anderson will continue to gather match fitness and could ultimately end up replacing Longstaff in the lineup. The sooner the better for us.
