Newcastle's new £28m signing says he is ready to 'kick on' after slight injury scare

Newcastle United's 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday meant that the obligation to buy Lewis Hall has now been triggered making the 19-year-old officially a Newcastle player.

The season-long loan from Chelsea for Lewis Hall contained an obligation to buy which would be triggered if and when Newcastle finished higher than 15th in the Premier League. Newcastle's win on Saturday mathematically confirmed that and as a result, the obligation was triggered and Hall is now officially a Newcastle United player.

Hall managed a brief cameo on Saturday after starting the previous two games, but a slight muscle problem combined with fatigue had kept him out of training in the lead-up to the Spurs game and therefore out of the starting lineup.

It hasn't been the dream move Hall had hoped when the lifelong Newcastle supporter signed in the summer and he's had to be patient for his chances, but Eddie Howe always said he was one for the future, and in that respect, we've got ourselves one hell of a player.

Hall says he's feeling good after his slight injury scare

Lewis Hall spoke to The Chronicle after the Spurs game and allayed any fears about his recent injury while opening up on the frustrations of this season.

"It was obviously frustrating not playing. It is not like I have not been doing anything, I have been working really hard behind the scenes. All the coaches and players have helped me so much and made me feel part of it.

"I feel like I have improved certain aspects of my game quite a lot. I am hoping now towards the end of the season I can continue to show my abilities and what I have improved on, to help the team.

"I feel good. It (muscular injury) came with not playing too much to then playing a lot of games with internationals and coming back and playing in a short space of time.

"It was a mix of fatigue as well. I feel really good now and I can kick on. I have been working hard behind the scenes. I am happy to be getting a lot more minutes and when I am out there I am happy"

Howe is starting to see Hall live up to his potential

It looks like Eddie Howe feels he is starting to see what he wants out of Hall and that he will have a big part to play in the remaining few fixtures.

With a full pre-season behind him, we expect to see Hall really come into his own next season and put up a good fight to make that left-back spot his own.

We've seen the potential Hall has, and with that in mind we still believe that £28million will ultimately prove to be a bargain.
