Newcastle United will be considering their options this summer as they look to raise extra funds for a transfer spree.

The Magpies will have some money to play with this summer, but will also once again be hamstrung by the overly restrictive Profit and Sustainability Rules, regardless of what guise they may take by the time the transfer window opens.

Big stars like Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak are always linked with moves away but it would be a huge backward step by the club to sanction a deal for either of those players, so instead it's more likely that we will see a handful of first-team players and fringe players sold this summer.

One name that has been mentioned today in The Telegraph has us scratching our heads, however, as Luke Edwards has posited that summer signing Yankuba Minteh could be sold.

Minteh: A quick cash turnaround for Newcastle?

Yankuba Minteh could be sold this summer

Minteh has been on loan in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord literally since he signed his Newcastle contract and has therefore not even trained with the Magpies yet, let alone played for them since his £7m move from OB Odense.

It's an idea that has shocked a lot of Newcastle fans as they've read the report, but is it one that makes sense?

The 19-year-old's stock has definitely risen during his loan spell at Feyenoord where he's grown under the guidance of Arne Slot and ironed out some big kinks from his game.

Would Howe really sell Minteh before he's even played for the club?

Eddie Howe will no doubt want to take a look at him himself over the summer and Minteh will definitely be featured in Newcastle's pre-season, but then surely, we won't sell him so soon after bringing him in, will we?

Minteh has the look and feel of a Dan Ashworth deal and it's been clear that Howe and Ashworth didn't see eye to eye, so maybe the gaffer would sell him just as a statement. Or maybe there's a feeling that we could earn enough on a quick turnaround thanks to his form at Feyenoord that it would be a no-brainer.

Ultimately, it's a decision that Eddie Howe will make in the future, but for us, we think that at worst Minteh will be sent out on loan again next season, probably to a Championship side. We honestly think that Luke Edwards was just throwing names out there to get a reaction and knew this one would do it, and if so, well played, Luke. Well played.
