Manchester United are in the market for a new striker and may have their eye on a former Newcastle United man who left the club for just £1.7million.

Former Newcastle United and Stoke City striker, Joselu is now on Manchester United's radar according to reports from Spain via Revelo.

Joselu is currently on loan at Real Madrid from Espanyol and was called up to the Spain national squad last year where he went on to score two goals on his debut.

In fact, the 34-year-old has been finding the net on a regular basis for Madrid too, scoring 13 times in 38 appearances in all competitions this season.

"Please, anyone but Man United"

Joselu made his debut for Spain at 32 years old

The Spain striker spent two years on Tyneside during which time fans were questioning Rafa Bentiez' sanity for persisting to play the striker week in week out.

Joselu's scoring record at Newcastle was terrible, but it was more about the chances that he missed that were the biggest cause for concern. He found the net just seven times in 52 games for the Magpies and was considered to be one of the worst forwards we'd had in a long time.

However, once he left Newcastle for around £1.7million and returned to Spain via Alavaes, he started to find his form again. That earned him a move to Espanyol where he really started to up his goalscoring game, to the point where at 32 years old, just two days before his 33rd birthday, he was given his first international call-up.

Buzzing for Joselu but does it have to be Man United?

Real Madrid made their move in the summer to bring him back to the club where he made one appearance in his early career.

Only on a season-long loan, Manchester United are getting ready to give the striker another shot in the Premier League, however, Joselu has his heart set on staying at Madrid.

Joelinton has had a crazy rollercoaster career, but Joselu's story arc is right up there. Although, let's be honest, if he is going to have another crack at the Premier League, could he go literally anywhere else, please?
