Yesterday it was reported that Lewis Miley had picked up a back injury while on international duty with England U20s and it was expected to keep him out for six weeks.

Social media was awash with claims that Miley had sustained an injury and that's why he wasn't involved in England's 3-1 win over Czech Republic with six weeks out being the claim before any official confirmation had even come out.

Shortly before the England senior side kicked off against Belgium it was confirmed that Newcastle United's 17-year-old maestro had indeed picked up a back injury and that the club were awaiting scan results.

In a season that has been defined by long-term injuries, it really shouldn't come as a surprise to see another Newcastle player ruled out for a prolonged period of time.

Luke Edwards thinks Miley won't be seen again this season

Luke Edwards was the one to break the worst news on X last night claiming that this injury is likely to keep Miley out of contention for the rest of the season.

With Miley being so young and still growing, they must treat any injuries with even more caution than normal, especially back injuries, which is why Edwards believes the club will want to make sure Miley isn't rushed back into action which could ultimately cause issues later in his career.

It's a hammer blow for the club, but even more so for Miley himself who might feel hard done by this season watching the media's love affair with Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo who made his full England debut last night. Miley has every right to feel aggrieved that Mainoo is taking all the plaudits over him - 'big six' bias in full effect.

We'd take losing Miley for the season if it means he's fully fit before he plays again

Our big concern now is that our medical team and indeed Eddie Howe, treat this injury properly and with respect. No pushing Miley to be ready for action again.

That's been our biggest problem this season and has caused more harm than good and Miley is too important to our future to take such risks with.

We wish Miley a speedy and full recovery and we'll see you next season!
